Kanile'a means "joyful sound" and their ukuleles are hand crafted under the guidance of Master Luthier, Joseph Souza at their factory in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Joe was born on Oahu and grew up around Hawaiian music and ukuleles. He learned to play the ukulele while young and in 1997 earned top honors at a Hawaiian falsetto contest. He apprenticed under a Master Luthier, Peter Burmudez . In 1998 Joe set up his own ukulele shop, Kanile’a, and now is himself a Master Luthier.

Kanile’a has five models of ukuleles with a range of prices, made of select Koa wood, curly Koa or Exotic woods. The ukuleles come in Soprano, Super Soprano, Concert, Super Concert, Tenor, Super Tenor and Baritone.

We consider Kanile'as to be one of the finest ukuleles that money can buy.
They are handmade on the island of Oahu and are built with the the highest standard. Their fit, finish and playability are top notch
and we are proud to carry them in our shop. Every 'ukulele comes with a money back guarantee and a limited lifetime warranty from the factory.
